Hey guys, after I do my suspension I'm going to put in a FRPP T-lok and 3.75 gears. I think what I'm going to do is have someone install the gears for me, I really don't want to F that up , then ill put the T-lok in myself. As far as I can tell it looks pretty straight forward, I have the Ford Maintenance manual. Anyways the only part I can't figure out is how the axels disconnect? Can anyone point me to an install or tell me how this comes apart?

Sorry I am no answering your direct question, but if if you're doing some of the rear end work you might as well do it all! Do some you-tube research and you'll find videos on how to do it. Don't be scared, after all plenty of idiots are mechanics (plenty of smart folks too but ya'll know what I mean).

Save yourself the hassel and get the posi installed at the same time. Gears are VERY easy to mess up if you dont have the right tools. Also, the half axle shafts are held in place by a simple C clip. Pull the clip out with some needle nose pliers and the shafts come out.

If you have the proper tools and dials you can do it yourself.

Why not pick up another rear end cheap (7.5's are cheap too because almost no body wants them) and just build it at your own pace without having downtime for your car.

Build it nice, paint the pumpkin and axle tubes and enjoy the project.

You will learn a lot from it and have bragging rights that you did it yourself.

Neo: Do you mean pick up a second 2001 7.5 rear end or buy a new one? because I already plan on buying a ford racing 7.5 t-lok, to put the gears in.

Yup, that way it keeps your car from being down while you work on it.

As for the T-lok, I recomend something stronger.

Results of easy street driven 4.10 geared V6 with just a couple mild bolt ons.

+1, I went through 2 and one was when my car was 100% bone stock auto

Hmmmmm, what would you guys recommend? You talkin an 8.8 or just a better make of differential?

detroit true trac, 8.8 adds extra weight, and you could just be swapping in someone elses headache, rebuild the 7.5 and you know you should almost never have to touch the rear end again
