Sixties Bucket Seats in 2007?
My '07 Stang has the stock cloth seats, but I have been thinking about swapping them out for some leather ones. I'm on a pretty tight budget, though, and new ones aren't really an option. One of my wilder ideas was to find some old leather '60s low backed bucket seats to get for cheap and swap out for the front two. (I'd have to find a regular s197 leather backseat, though, obviously) My friend and I fabricated some brackets for his racing seats last summer so they would fit in his truck, so I'm not too worried about that, but mostly I was wondering if anyone had ever had this idea before and had carried it out. If so, some before and after pictures would be awesome, or even just some advice because I'm not sure if this would look great or just plain stupid. Any comments/help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have the room and can make the seat track, you can do it.
Classic seats are not as wide, they have no head rest, they are prone to break if you lean too hard back on them and you can not recline all the way in most.
Your looking at a lot of money though, most people want $200+ for seats that need to be redone and $500+ for good seats or $700+ for restored seats with new foam. It also depends on if you get standard or deluxe or sports seats depending on the generation.
Let me help you save a huge amount of trouble with this.
Call your local LKQ and tell them that you are looking for a matching front and back set of 05-12 Mustang leather seats. They shouldnt run you more than $400 for a nice leather set.
I bought mine from LKQ of Redding Ca from James (internet sales, btw they can ship to any LKQ for free) and only paid $400 for mine and mine are the premo leather set with the strip and power drivers seat.
Mine are from a Program stang with less than 2000 miles on it. That pretty much means there was an imperfection with the car somewhere and the owner got to give it back.
Here is a pick of my seats, btw these are going into a 68' Mustang.

If you do the 05-13 seat swap GET THE 05-09 style seats. The 10s+ have the most awkward god awful head rest ever designed and the thing isn't adjustable. Keeps your spine curved and your head tilted slighly forward. Only way to counteract this is the lean the seat back further which makes if feel like you're driving in a hammic. Just terrible design.
