Default Water Pump Out?

So right below the water pump pulley Or in this pic, where the pump pulley is (lower right of the pulley, round thing) or just right of, there is a coolant leak. I was told today that my water pump went out. The guy who told me use to do drive-ability so I'm sure he's right. Anyone confirm? If its true, how hard is it gonna be to replace this bigger? What am I gonna need?

Image I'm speaking of is located below.

Since there is no water pump pulley it's hard to understand where you are referring to.
try right clicking the image and saving it. Use MS paint to draw a circle on it and repost the picture.

Those are of my car. The first two are the little area that the coolant seems to be coming out or, or something around it.

The replacement pump has the same thing, but I can't tell what it would be too. Wondering if its the pump or possibly the timeing chain cover.

It would not suprise me if it was the water pump and from those pics it does look like it. The pump is not to hard to replace but you will need to pull the power steering pump pulley off (which requires a special tool you can rent from Autozone for free). When was the last time the pump was changed? You can always put cardboard under your car and let it sit for a few minutes while running and see if anything does drip down.

I just got the car. Dunno how long it's been since its been replaced but it's got 157k on it.

From what it looks like and I've read, I won't news to actually remove the power steering pully. I just need to push it out of the way. Anyone confirm?

I'm almost 100% sure it's the water pump. I ordered one from napa today, it will be here tomorrow and I'll put it in sat. I just hope it's easier then not. Also will do the thermostat since I will be right there.

A couple of notes. It's easy to break off the bolts. You have different metals that have been around each other a while. Some penetrating oil today will make the change tomorrow easier.

There should be an air purge valve above the thermostat to eliminate air from the block.

While the thermostat and pump are off you have a chance to really flush the system.

You will have residual water in the block. To get the proper mix I add the required amount of coolant without mixing then use water to finish the fill. This takes care of the unknown quantity of water in the block and heater.

Wow! Good idea! I will spray some PB Blaster on it today and tomorrow morning before I work on it. Good advice!

Also make sure to loosen the water pump pulley BEFORE you take the belt off. I forgot to do that and had to put half of it back together to get the 4 bolts loose.
