i installed my long tubes by myself, and i really dont have any trained mechanical skills, just what i have learned by working on my cars. i redid the whole exhaust at the same time though so i wouldnt run into any problems. went with the mac h pipe and mac cat back so it all would just bolt up.

long tubes can take a while, especially the egr, which was a real pain and i dont think ford ever thought anyone would ever be taking the stock exhaust manifolds off, hence the terrible location of the egr bung. not easily accessible, so i kept the egr tube on the exhaust manifold and installed it on the header outside of the car. really had to work with it to get it out and then back in, but i didnt have a short enough wrench to get it, and if i did, i bet i wouldnt have had enough leverage to get the bolt loose.

also, i have a maximum motorsports tubular k-member so it may be a little easier for me. the stock k-member is much more bulky, which will cut out even more wiggle room

He doesn't sound like a car guy fellas because he doesn't know longtubes even. So explain the stuff for him. I doubt without a lot of research you will understand what you want really.

In this pic the top are stock headers off a V8..hence the 4 tubes per side. They are cheap and heavy. Middle are shorty headers. Nicer but don't really add anything to a V6.They do weigh less and open up airflow. Last are the long tube headers. You can gain a tiny bit from them but more importantly they sound a lot better.

Headers are what the mid pipe hooks to. Things like X pipes or H pipes. I suggest H pipes.

Then your muffler system attaches to the mid pipe. Those really come down to personal taste in price and sound quality.

May I suggest NO glasspacks on a V6.

These are the X pipe top and H pipe bottom. The H one has some big resonators in it. They direct airflow and affect sound. X are raspier and the H will go deeper rumbly.

okay, thanks for that, I haven't done too much with my car yet, trying to learn more stuff, never looked into headers cause a couple of my friends told me they weren't very good, and they were expensive. i'll have to check some of those out now aswell.

Thank you

I should clarify that not all H pipes come with resonators...just those in the pic happened to have some.
