Default success...i got the windstar in my sn95

ok after almost a year i have it in and running.
i swapped in a 99 3.8 after my 95 blew the head gaskets...at 200k i decided to lay it to rest and move on. so i found a 99 3.8 for 300.00 and rebuilt it....along the way i found the windstar swap, so if i figured why not.

this weekend i fired it up and went for a ride. all i have to say is wow. i dont think the old engine ever really worked right at all. i know its just the stock 3.8 but it is so much better now.

i had to notch the strut brace to fit...but i back filled the notches with jb weld 1 inch past the cuts on either side so i am fine with that.

this combined with the 3.73 really woke the car up. i already fish tailed a little to my surprise...have to get used to it. like i said...i know its a stock 3.8 but i love it. i may not win any races but i am going to have tons of fun.

i want to thank the forum for all the help i found on here thru searches and the direct advice i got.

Yeah there is a decent difference between a 94-98 and a 99-04 performance wise. Not, huge, but deffinitely enough to fell, and see the difference at the track.

Good job!!!

Thanks...i have a tune from VMP as well to kill the cel light and tweak it. I drove it before and after i tuned it. I think that made a nice difference as well.

Nice work, good to see another splitport swap into the very deserving SN95.

i would need sponsors for that.

i have a family and so the days of me dumping money in cars for fun is limited at best. hence it took me a year to do this much.

Good job! Question - Could this swap be CARB legal? Seeing the pic I know that wouldnt be legal as the intake isnt sectioned off from the engine.

yeah... prob not....i know the intake should go thru the fender but i am short an elbow right now. end goal is to put it thru there though.
