Headers/Cats Crackling After Shut-Off?
I don't know if this is mechanical or means something is wrong but it is really annoying? I'm pretty sure it's either the headers or the converters making a cracking noise for 10-15 seconds after I shut off my car. I've been told its just the headers cooling off after shutting the car off and the expanding n contracting of it is making the noise. I've never heard any other car do this so I am wondering if anyone else had had this problem or if anyone knows how to fix it? Thanks...like I said its doesn't seem to do anything negative performance or mechanical wise, it's just quite irritating

Never had it on any of my Mustangs. The car will make a few squeaks, pops, and cracks after you shut it off, but I've never heard anything major. If it's very loud and noisy I would suspect a potential failure is in the work. As steal weakens it's gonna be more prone to making noises as it weakens to failure. If it's minor with occasional noise that's normal.

This is totally normal , especially if you shut it down right after really getting on it. I've had this happen on all my cars. This is more prone to happen in colder states, since the temperature difference between the exhaust and the ambient air is so great.

Ya tht makes sense, it usually does do it more after I've been mashing the gas and such. I also do live in Colorado and its getting pretty cold over here. I just haven't really heard any car do it as loud as mine so it was kind of a concern. Thanks!
