Default Bought car 2 days ago, now check engine light

Ok so I'm a little pissed! I drove 2 hours away to get this car, drove it home and a little yesterday. Went to get in it this morning and the check engine light is on. Wtf really? I know the obvious thing would be to drive it right back to the dealer. He's 2 hours away and hoping I wouldn't break down on the way there would suck! I hate the fact that dealers reset the codes and they come on days after you get the car in which I'm thinking this might be the case! No friggin clue what it could be seeing I've only had the car for 2 days!

Any autozone will run the codes for you but I would bet its something emissions related

Yeah man, Autozone, Advance, pretty much any retail part store has the OBII machines. They can't give you a detailed diagnostic, but can show you where to start. And Mustangman is right, most of the time it's emissions codes, oxygen sensor, egr valve, etc.

If there's a garage or mechanic near you and they don't want to charge you an arm and a leg, they usually have better machines and can actually give you diagnostics. Hopefully it's not a dealer code or you will have to go back to the dealer.

I'd bet it's something small that you could do yourself.
LIke they posted, get the codes pulled (or buy a code reader yourself - always a handy tool to have) - and see what you have.
