Default Feels like I am bottoming out..

Ok.. It has been a while since I drove the car as the mustang is mostly a summer car.. Finally brought it out and having a lot of squeaks.. Also I have found that when I hit little bumps in the road it feels like the car is bottoming out.. You hear what sounds like the car bottoming out and it feels like somebody is punching under the car.. Its been a while so I am not 100% on this but I believe the car has the Eibach pro damper shock/strut kit installed.. I know the front has stock springs but the rear I am not sure if it is stock or eibach pro springs.. I remember I had the eibach springs installed and the car was way too low and i actually hit the exhaust so I brought ti back to the shop but cant remember if they took out just the front springs or both front and rear.. Anyway.. Just wondering what I should be looking at.. I dont mind a stiff ride but this is ridiculous.. I mean every bump and it feels like somebody is punching the underside of the car.. I "think" i narrowed it down to the rear only.. The front mostly squeaks horrible when going over bumps.. So what I am hoping is someone can help me to narrow down what would be causing both the bottoming out feeling and the squeaking.. Ill try and get a video.. I was actually thinking of just redoing the suspension and having all new springs, shocks, struts, control arms, bushings, ball joints, tie rods, etc done and think I can get all the parts for just under 1500 shipped but don't know if its worth doing all that work.. Let me know what you guys think..

Ok.. Well just a quick update.. I just got back in and while walking in I thought I would check the mustang real quick and do a "test" to see if I could replicate the squeak when the car was parked.. I couldn't get it to squeak but something I did find was that the car sits slightly lower on the rear driver side, but even more surprising is when I pushed down on the rear driver side of the vehicle it wouldn't go down.. I went to every corner of hte car and pushed down and had the car rocking, but when I went to the rear driver side the car wouldn't move.. What would be causing this? Is it a bad shock..

Ya sounds like that shock is blown or somehow locked up.

Since it is sitting lower on that corner I would check for a broken spring. May explain the noises you are hearing.

I bought a pair of 'Grannetelli Rear Lower Control Arm Jackers'. Which you can raise or lower the rear. I did that to stop a bottoming out that I was experiencing with my lowered '03 GT. I love the fact that it stopped the bottoming out, but also I can raise and lower the rear to whatever way I want it, as long as I don't go too low. I like a little rear to front rake line anyway. They were only 200.00 at Summit Racing and installed them by myself. They've been on my GT for 6 years now. Hope this helps, it helped me.

I think you may be right.. I just went outside and tried to "violently" shake the car, specifically on the rear driver side where it was sitting lower.. I actually went to try and pick the car up in that corner.. Heard a noise and found that both the passenger and driver side rear raised.. Prior to touching the car the rear driver side sat at about 26.5 inches from the center of fender to ground.. the rear passenger side was measured and was about 27 1/4.. Now the passenger side is just under 28 inches and the driver side is about 27.5.. So I am thinking that either the springs were not seated correctly when they put the stock ones back in or something along those lines.. the car still isnt bouncing on the rear driver side.. well not nearly as much as the passenger side.. i was actually thinking of ordering the upper/lower control arm kit from BBK so maybe ill just wait till that kit comes in and have them adjust the springs.. How would you tell if a spring is broken?

Here are some pics.. The night ones were taken last night.. daytime ones taken today after messing with it..

Jack it up and safely support the car and look at the spring from underneath. If it is broken you will be able to see it.

They can just break sitting still. Last month I had my work truck parked in the parking lot at the shop. Was going towards it when it sounded like a gunshot. The front dropped some, and upon inspection found the spring had broken.
