Default 95 v6 strange clicking in rear when slowing down

hi all, just bought a 95 mustang and on the way home with it i noticed a strange clicking/tapping noise coming from the rear of the car. it only happens when slowing down either in gear or not. also happens when im on the brakes or not on the brakes. but only when slowing down. no noise under acceleration no whining or anything. but the car does vibrate a little at around 50-60 mph anyone know what these issues might be? the car runs great otherwise. the clutch feels really good and its great on gas lol

Are you sure the engine, wind & exhaust noise isn’t drowning out the clicking when you are on the gas? The clicking could be something as simple as a rock in the tire tread or as complicated as a bad rear differential.

Try jacking up the rear of the car so both rear tires are off the ground, chock the front tires. Put the tranny in neutral and spin the rear tires by hand and see if you can hear the clicking noise. Try to pinpoint it that way. Good luck...

so i jacked up the car today and took the diff cover off and was spinning the wheels looking for anything rubbing or touching. couldnt find anything. but as i was spinning the wheels i noticed when i stopped the wheel from moving the driveshaft kept spinning for about 1 full rotation. when it stopped it would move foward and back a little. looked at the bolts and they were so friggin loose a strong gust of wind could have blown them out... tightned the driveshaft bolts and havent been able to recreate the noise by hand. gonna test drive it after im done changing the brakes...couldnt believe those bolts were loose.
