Default Is my THERMOSTAT wearing out?? TEMP GAUGE FLUCTUATES

I am just curious if these are signs of a bad thermostat?

It's currently my daily driver and I drive to school about 25 miles away back and fourth.

The temperature needle stays around normal area most of the time (just slightly over C) but seems to fluctuates half way to the middle between cold and hot and sometimes slightly pass the middle of the temp gauge just a few mm but the needle never goes near hot. Is it normal to have my temperature fluctuate like this?

It stays low (cold) majority of the time but around half an hour trips it would fluctuate for around 5 minutes towards middle temperature (towards Hot) and slightly tips over and drops back down to Cold??

Any ideas? Thanks in advanced.

Sounds fine to me, might have a bubble in your system.

There is a valve on top of the front of you engine near the water pump. The black pipe that has 3 pipes coming off of it. The piece on top with pipe thread is a pressure release valve. This will release the air bubble.
To test a thermostat drop it in a pot of boiling water and use a cooking thermostat to see if the valve opens at the right temp.

I think my thermostat is okay as of the moment.. Its always around mid point and summer is around the corner and I do not want my car over heating. I noticed my fan does not turn on when my temperature reaches this point? Or is this a common problem?

My cars a 3.8L

Does the coolant level in the radiator stay full or do you keep having to top it off?

My coolant stays the same, I do not have to top it off at all.

I just noticed its leaking where my thermostat is at. Leaks from the bottom and drips on the engine block. Did my thermo/sealing go out?? This is the only problem I see as of the current moment. I thought it was ok but guess not.

Alright, I just replaced the thermo stat with a gasket.. I even flushed the radiator.. My thermo gauge is still hitting half point of "NORMAL" but my engine temp is around the right temperature but my gauge is still faulty.

Could it possibly be my coolant temperature sensor that is faulty? I was told by a shop it may be my sensor. Thing is I do not have any CEL's on, would this temperature sensor trigger a CEL if it is bad?

My car is around the right temperature and the fan does come on when its around 205+..
