02 mustang humming noise
I just bought a 2002 Ford Mustang with 100k miles, there's a loud humming noise, but when I take my foot off the acceleratr it goes away. But when the car is in neutral and I rev the engine it sounds good.. also when I'm coming to a stop there is a humming noise.
I don't know how to explain it real well, but anyone have any ideas?

Your bearings are gone. It happened to me too, I heard the same humming sound when acclerating. I replaced the bearings and it went away! Good Luck

I've been having the same issue- can only hear when sitting inside the car and at idle.
First they thought alternator bearing- 6 mos. later noise came back.
Then idler pulley bearing- noise came back 2 days later.
Cleaned IAC and throttle- still hearing noise.
Ford dealer listened with stethoscope and couldn't find the source, so I've been told to keep driving until something shows itself.
I don't like taking that chance but don't know what else to do?

Wow didn't notice how old this thread was. Whops.

dilts,
It sounds like a differential bearing, like mentioned above. It's a pretty common maintenance repair for Mustangs with 100k miles on them.
Make sure you get the issue verified, but this Ford Racing kit should cover what you need. Also, it wouldn't be a bad time to change the gear raito's while you're in there, either!
