Wire Help! Green Wire w/ Black Stripe - Stereo
So I just recently acquired my '99 Stang and the cig
lighters weren't working, so I, along with the help from
my dad, went and fixed the problem. It was easy, the
harness needed cleaning. We did all that and put
everything back together and then the stereo didn't work.
Long story short is that I got a new stereo
(Old = Pioneer DEH-1200MP, new = Pioneer DEH-4400HD)
and it still didn't work. Tested some wires, Red was good,
Ground was good, Yellow wire, the accessory wire, isn't
always hot. In fact it's never hot like it's suppose to be.
Trace that wire to the factory harness for the stereo and
it's the Green wire with a Black Stripe.
Now here's my question! Does anybody know where
that Green with Black Stripe wire leads to and the path
it takes to get there? Online it says it's the battery wire,
and that makes sense because it's suppose to be always
hot, but I want to try and find the problem (ie broken
wire or bad connection) and it's impossible to trace where
it goes because everything is taped up. However I do know
that it goes to the drivers side, but I don't know whether
it goes above the steering wheel or under it.
------OR------
Instead of finding out and taking the dash apart to find
that wire, should I just run a new wire spliced from the
cig lighter to where that Green wire with Black Stripe was
suppose to be? The cig lighter is a constant hot wire, so
to me that just sounds like a easy alternative.
Notes:
I know the stereo works
I know the Yellow / Green wire with Black stripe is the problem
NO fuses blown.
Ground wire is good
Red wire is hot when key is turned
P.S. Sorry for the long post! I just didn't want to leave anything out.

You're gonna need to google wiring diagrams and find one that matches what you're looking for. If you're not too sure how to read it, post a pic of the wiring diagram/link and I can chime in. Ford changes colors and locations all the time, so you need a diagram. It doesn't show where the wire runs per say, but it does show what's next in line.

Ok so I couldn't find anything and whatever I did find was
confusing so my pops and I just went ahead and soldered
a new wire running from the cigarette lighters wire that
was always hot and butt plugged that into the accessory
wire and wallah! The easy way worked and the cigarette
lighter still works and it all worked out! That was stressful
to find that problem. Glad to put it all behind me now.
Thanks
