HELP!

After 2 days of working like mad to get everything back together, I now have a no spark issue.

I have fuel pressure at the rail, but I have no spark. (pulled #1 at coil pack, nothing while cranking)

Tested Pin3 on the coil connector and I have battery voltage present.


Any ideas where to start? I have checked the obvious, fuses, grounds, ect.

Thought I would give an update.

Got the car all back together, and found my no-spark issue. (Complete, fatigue induced brain fart, did not have the crank sensor connected).

The good news is, I fixed the head gasket problem. Everything seems to be holding well.

The bad news...the really disappointing, makes me want to scream, bad news is, I now have a valve problem.

The worst part is, I knew it before I installed the head. Again, another fatigue induced brain fart, only this one is going to cost me.

After lightly lapping the valves, and installing them, I did a ghetto test for valve seal (acetone in the runners), and I had a very minor, but enough for concern, leak on #5 exhaust. I sat the head aside, intending on coming back to it later with a new valve spring, and a more aggressive lapping. And I forgot about it. Plain and simple, I just never came back to it.

The car now runs "great"...all but the dead-*** miss on #5 at idle.

I am hoping beyond hope that it is just a bad spring. I am going to pull the upper intake to get the VC off, and replace the springs on #5. I am not expecting good results, but its really the only thing I can think to do short of pulling the head, and getting it right.

All I can say is, lessons learned. My biggest screw-up was working on the car when I really should not have been. Trying to squeeze in shop time on top of 60 hours a week at work, got me here. It wasn't uncommon to be in the garage at 2am working on it, and thats not good when you are already cutting corners to save cash.

On the brightside, I am very happy with everything else. This was my first experience with an EFI engine, and getting everything back in place, with no leaks or leftover parts was a partial victory.

QUICK EDIT:

Leakdown test confirmed what I already knew. Bad leak at #5 intake valve. Time to decide if I want to tear it back apart, or just start looking for a JY replacement.
