Squeeky noise when turning or even just driving "straight"
2001 with 83k miles. Even when the car is at idle and I turn the wheel, the squeak can be heard. Not a sequel, but a squeak. Both directions. But even when driving straight I can hear it sometimes, but of course with bumps and stuff in the road you never really go straight I suppose for long.
I checked the power steering fluid, it's fine. I applied belt dresser, noise is still there. It sounds like it's coming from under the hood and not the tires, but I'm unsure.
Any ideas? My Pops is drunk but keeps saying it can't be bearings or anything, but again he's drunk and I'm going to ask him again tomorrow haha.

Is it a quick squeak or a long sustained squeak? I’d jack the front of the car up, block the rear wheels and start the car. Then turn the wheels back & forth to try to reproduce the squeak. If you can it should be pretty simple to pinpoint the noise. It could be any number of things. There aren’t any bearings in the steering system, other then the tiny ones inside the rack. If they were bad you wouldn’t hear them while driving.

I've been having this exact same problem. It Seems to have started up about 2 weeks ago when it really started getting hot out. I Think it's something with the heat. Could it be that we need to just have the front end lubed up?

My Dad told to me to replace the power steering pump. Thoughts on that? I mean the noise occurs when turning the wheels but I do hear it off an on while driving (but I guess really only when the wheel moves).

I live in NJ and it's like 75 recently so I'm ruling out the weather. Upon further investigation the sound occurs when the car is turned OFF as well. I do not hear it from the passenger side so it's either under the hood or I'm guessing it has to be inside the tire.
Should I spray WD40 up in there? Could it be low tire pressure actually?
