Default blown head gasket rebuild engine

Ok I have posted alot on here lately and I appreciate the help and knowledge. Here is my problem I have a blown head gasket. I have decided to rebuild the engine the reason being is because my girlfriends dad is a mechanic and has been working on cars his whole life. so the problem remains I need to know where to get all the things I need for a engine rebuild. I have not tested the heads yet but I am not buying new ones im using the old ones. I have never done a engine rebuild and I need your advice or your experiences. everything I should know about this engine rebuild I would love and want to know thank you.

Lapp the heads. It costs more but if you blew the head then you might as well do it right the first time.
