Default Loud POP sound seemingly from engine bay after starting car - only happens sometimes

Hi All,

So like the title of the thread says, SOMETIMES after I start my car (usually after the car has been warmed up and driven previously in the day) I will be sitting there say putting on my seatbelt or whatever and all of a sudden I hear sort of a loud and deep sounding POP that seems to come from the passenger side of the engine bay. Is this a "miss"?

I have no CEL on and it has me a bit boggled. Like I said, it only happens sometimes so its hard to really get a gauge as to where it is coming from or what it could be,

Does anyone have any idea?

A miss usually happens multiple times, not just one. I would try to reproduce it with the hood up and see if you can narrow down the source. It could be any number of things, but most likely it is a back-fire coming out through the throttle body. Good luck...

Thanks for the reply Petrock... If it is a backfire through the throttle body, what would the likely culprit be do you think? Dirty throttle body? Anything else you feel?

My car has been having the same symptoms and I also heard a loud pop out the intake once I removed the silencer. It only did it once while I was reving it.
If its backfiring is it neccesarily a bad thing?
Also it "bump/thumps" on idle but i dont know what it might be, ill be replacing sparkplugs and maybe sparkplug wires but if that doesnt fix it then I think it might be misfiring. It does that on idle or when im going 40mph(every time) and other high speeds. Any explanation to this?

My car does this exact same thing. Only sometimes and it is quite loud and I can feel it in my foot. It is right after starting it or sometimes a while after it bein running n driven. I took it in and they found nothing wrong with the car....I have had it 8 years and never had an issue with it. I got a 07 gt. No idea what it is
