Few questions about 5 speed swap
I have a few questions because i'm starting to get confused. I was originally going to get a 5 speed transmissions from a 3.8 mustang because i'm working on a 5 speed swap, but should i actually be getting the transmission from a 5.0? Is that the transmission i read about in swap threads, unless they're the same. I've already gotten the bell housing from a 3.8. Also for the computer, do i just get the ecu from a 5 speed 3.8, or 5.0? I'm confused about if i should be getting parts from a 5.0 or 3.8. I have a 3.8.

That t5 trans will bolt up to either , The 5.0l t5 is a bit more rugged and is geared a little differently, but essentially the same thing.
When I did my v6 over to a 5.0l I used the trans from the v6. As for the computer if your running a 3.8l you need a computer for a 3.8 5spd.

So i can just buy the ecu and plug it in than i'm good to go? I've read that you need to get the transmission harness, whats that about? Do you just get it and plug it into where the aode harness was?

There is no harness to a t5 trans because its not electronic, The only plugs are for the vss/speedometer and the reverse light switch. They should be on the same harness as a aode. Just get the pcm for a manual 3.8l and let it eat. I think I had to use a 5.0l bell housing for my swap but the trans was origanl from the v6. Its been years so I cant be 100% sure.

Oh okay, that makes sense. Ah okay, well it's to late to get the 5.0 one now. Hopefully it will work. But thanks, you've been good help. You'll probably see a post from me again once i start ordering more parts.
