Default 2004 Mustang excessive fuel usage

I have a 2004 Mustang 40th anniversary edition, V6. It seems to use a terribly excessive amount of fuel. Does anyone know why it would be doing this or is it just built that way? It has been regularly maintained, has new tires, everything has checked out ok on it - could anything be getting overlooked on it? Thanks.

Moving to tech..

How much gas are you using? How many miles do you get out of the tank?

Without your MPG, its hard to say.

most ppl are getting 18-22mpg (no modding)

are you getting like 12?

mine was getting 5mpg and new that wasnt right but i had a front caliper that was hanging up changed that and it helped but not too much, so i cleaned the mass air flow sensor and then i got 14/20 mpg check there. So after that i just changed the mass air totally with a new one $90.00. May be part of your problem

The v6s have similar fuel demands to the v8s, you are also moving a lot of weight with not a lot of power my 6er would 17ish combined, around town it would be like 15 but my vehicles idle a bit. my GT did 20, and my cobra does about 23 mpg

How bad is bad? how hard is your right foot? With a light foot, it was normal for me to get 22-23 city with mine.
