Default Opinion on tire size

Hey All,
I have a quick question regarding tire sizes. Currently on my car i have p225 60r17. My tires need to be replace so i went to a local tire shop. The guy told me my tires are to big in height and recommended p225 50r17. Said it would drive better and look better. What do you guys think? would it drive and look better? i currently have a 2001 v6 mustang.
Thanks for your help,
David

What wheels do you have?? You current tires are WAY too big (tall) of a side wall. And it sounds like you have very skinny wheels. Are they 17x7????

Then yes, 225/50/17 will be close to the stock 26" diameter (it will be about 25.9" depending on brand). You'll be a lot better off. The 225 width is about as wide as you want to go on that rim.

yeah a 60 ratio height is considered a passenger tire/light truck tire. 55 or lower is considered a performance tire.
