Default How difficult?

I have a 98 v6, looking to put a new radio in it. How hard of a task is this? Any surprises I should be ready for? Is the anti theft system tied into the radio?

Do you have the Mach 460 or standard stereo setup. That makes a huge difference in price and work

It isnt too difficult to install. Crutchfield is a good place to purchase the radio (That is if you're going aftermarket.) They sell the harness's to adapt to the mach 460 as well (Again, like BabyGT said, if you have mach 460)

Its as simple as splicing some wires together.

I would also recommend going to a store to listen to speakers before you buy them online. Granted, they won't sound the same, but it will give you an idea on what they are worth. At some stores I have found them cheaper than online, others pricematch so you don't have to worry about shipping.

Not very difficult at all, but I would HIGHLY recommend running new wires. Factory wires tend to short over time, especially those in the doors, not to mention the fact you'll get better sound. If you don't want to run new wires, that's fine, just make sure you get the adapter harness.

Gotcha, running wires isn't too hard. I'll see how I feel when I get around to it. Thanks again.

It's is a pain gettin new wires through the door connector though lol and with the base model it's easy.

And it's expensive with the Mach system because you have to make sure your headunit has a bass filter for the tweeters took me forever to find the extra harness for the amp cut ons, otherwise you will blow them in short order, then it's a pain for most people to get the wiring right, then setup the stereo filters right to not blow the tweeters.......ect, ect,....

Wire pull rod (aka glow rod) is your best friend for the doors.

Fish tape will work too.
