Default ticking noise when pushing the gas

2001 v6 mustang coup, standard. When I push the gas, it sounds like a ticking noise up in my engine or tranny. Idle is a little bad when its warming up and it sounds like a motorcycle... I can't figure it out. My oil was just changed so its not that.

Where in va are you? I might can come take a look, seeing in person is worlds better for diagnosing than guessing online. Could be a cylinder not firing or an exhaust leak as well. I wouldn't bet on it being a lifter but that's a possibility.

99-01 V6 mustangs typically get an exhaust leak on the passenger side exhaust manifold flange where the flange attaches to the exhaust pipe. The reason is that the AC condensation drain sits right above the manifold flange and drips water down onto this connection point.

Hot manifold flange + cold water leads to cracking of the weld point for the Manifold flange.

Check there with a flashlight. If you see black soot around the flange that can be easily rubbed off with your fingers then you have an exhaust leak. Buy a new exhaust manifold.

It's happened to most, if not all, V6 mustangs of those years. 2002+ added a drain line or extended the existing one (if there) to avoid this.

P.S. Check your oil level anyways just in case....

With his motorcycle description I'm willing to bet it's worse than the standard crack we are prone too.

I'm in Chesapeake. I'll check the manifold. The motorcycle sound is mostly when its warming up.

Exhaust leaks are very common. Could be that.
