2003 Clutch Issues
Hello,
A friend of mine has a Mustang that the clutch is going out on. Kind of jerky at cold start, clutch pedal sticks, horrible grinding noise when shifting gears, etc. We are going to replace it, but I have a question before I replace it with OEM parts.
Before it started acting up, the clutch pedal was somewhat hard to press down. Maybe it is because I've never driven a mechanical clutch? Is this typical for this car to be a bit stiff when pressing the clutch down?
If so, will an aftermarket clutch fix the issue? Or is there something I can do when installing the OEM parts that would loosen this up a bit? The main reason I want to loosen it up is because he has trouble pressing it with his bad leg, and I know that these cars like for the clutch to be fully pushed before switching gears otherwise it can be hard on the clutch and cause it to wear faster.
Thanks in advanced!

Additional question: Could the problems being experienced with the car just be the clutch cable and not the full clutch system itself? The car has over 150k miles on it. All stock OEM and no plans to do any aftermarket performance work for it. We want to get it fixed and working again without spending a lot of money.
