I am new to the forum and I have a question that has probably been asked and answered many times. I have searched the forum and also did numerous google searches, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer to my question. We have a 2003 Mustang with the 3.8L V6 engine. Our son is the primary driver for this car. It popped a p1285 code the other day. I have checked the thermostat and it is working as advertised. Also the fan comes on as it should. There have not been any overheating events. I'm figuring it must be the temp sensor. I know that the 3.8L uses a cylinder head temp sensor. My problem is that I can't seem to locate the sensor on the vehicle. I have looked over the entire top end of the motor, but either I'm blind or it's hidden somewhere out of sight.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

FYI. The cylinder head temp sensor on a 2003 3.8L V6 is located on the back of the driver side head. It is a pain to get to, from either the top or bottom side.

Anyway, it's now changed and the problem is fixed.
