SN95 Problems - Auto to Manual
So, after going through the work of an engine swap of two V6 3.8l and a switch on the engine of distributor to an EDIS, I've come to find the problem we hoped to fix still exists, it was the tranny not the engine. So I'm out a car right now and running out of options here but here is question that if possible might solve my problem..
My fathers friend has a 5.0l V8 and T5 tranny combo that I might be able to get from him, how hard would the switch from auto to manual be on a SN95 like this? The other engine and tranny are already mated, so would I just need to run cables and pedals, or would there be more involved with it..? I appreciate any info you guys could give!! Thanks!

The v6 t5 uses a different bell housing. The bell housing on a v8 and v6 are different in the location of the starter. The bolt patterns are the same but the starter will not engage the fly wheel using the v8 bell.

Sorry for any confusion, I am not putting the transmission that is on the V8 on the V6, just swapping the entire motor and tranny combo. The V8 is already mated with a 5-speed (I think a T5) and the V6 is already mated with a AODE.
I just wanted to know if there was a lot of work involved with switching those two engine and tranny combos, other than pulling and putting an engine in, because I would be switching from and automatic to manual transmission. Would I just have to run cable and pedals..? Thanks for your answer!!

What year 5.0? At the very least you would need, a new cross member, wire harness, driveshaft, rear end, engine mounts, pedal assembly, cables, safety switches for the clutch pedal, computer from whatever year the motor is from, I'm sure there are more. You would prolly save time and money to find another cheap car running for the time being. The good thing is with your v6 body being a 95, the GT still came equipped with a 5.0 so there are a whole lot of EPA engine swap legal mumbo jumbo you don't have to worry about because that meets the requirements, just need to make sure you utilize the same evap system and smog stuff for 95 5.0's.

Simple answer, NO, the 5.0 will not bolt in the 3.8 car, the cross member is different and the engine mounts will not align.
I'd buy a dirt cheap running car and take your time. Buy an aftermarket crossmember, and buy nice parts, don't rush it and build a fun car. You will be glad you did.
