Default Stock intake Air temperature sensor reintall?

2002 v6 mustang here. So I decided to ditch the cold air intake and go back to my stock intake. The only problem now is the other half part of the air temperature sensor shown in the link below won't budge in. the slot is too small for the sensor to fit in. Now before I do any forced alternative, I want to ask here if there is a proper or easy way to reinstall it back to the stock intake? Im just afraid i might damage the sensor if I try to push it too hard.

It should just thread into the hole it came out of. Try a little engine oil to help it go in easier, or take that rubber tube off and stick it in the oven at its lowest temp to help soften the rubber a bit.

Hmm. I don't think engine oil will cut it,the iat I have is a little different from the others which built with a thread.Mine is a cone shaped rubber like an upside down top.Seems like it was designed to come out with a twist but getting it back in is a different story. I'll post a pic of it later,if your instructions still applies after seeing the design then I'll try what you said.

when you removed it from the cold air intake, did the rubber grommet stick to it? Maybe the rubber piece from the air tube came out with it and needs to be removed first.

If you meant the circle rubber that is still in the tubing, then I guess it did not came off with it.the damn thing feels like it is glued in place as if it is meant to be part of the hole.I suspected that was supposed to be off with the IAT so i tried plucking it off with a flat screwdriver,no luck there. someone else suggested that I pour hot water over it.will see how it goes after im off work.
