Default Accident Today

Hey guys, just signed up today, unfortunately my 01 convertible took a nasty hit and I spun out, got hit in the rear I think it messed up my hood control, my back bumper and such and the car wouldn't start after the accident, do you guys think it is totaled or do you think it just has one of those sensors that shuts off the engine after a wreck?

The reason it won't start is probably the fuel cut off switch which trips in the event of an accident. Look in your owners manual for the reset procedure.

judging from the way the trunk lid is shoved over, I would say the inner structure is bent pretty badly. ins will probably total it out as it will require a lot of sheetmetal replaced to get it fixed.

Expect it to be totaled. The value of an '01 isn't high enough to make it worth the repairs that look necessary.

It might be worth asking what they'll sell it back to you for, to part out.

Man I really hope it isn't totaled, but everyone says insurance is likely to give me more than its worth and I can just get another one, was just a good price for the mileage.

If the crash wasn't your fault, don't accept blue book value. Insist on replacement value and find as many similarly equipt mustangs with equal or less mileage in your area with the highest prices as you can to prove the cost to replace.

Before insisting on replacement value, check to see what that would be, and what the Blue Book says.

Sometimes KBB is higher than a car is actually selling for in the local area.
