Help? My son took his calipers off forgetting about the brake bleeder
So my son was taking off the calipers to clean them and he ended up forgetting about the brake line and took that off and then you know to expect the brake lines to bleed except he took it out and it leaked a hell of a lot and then I inspected the brake line and it was leaking out brake fluid. I check the lines and I suspected that the line was way too tight so I loosened it and tightened it just right. As far as I know the brakes stopped leaking and now the brakes are really mushy and you have to push it hard to the floor to stop. I took it out for a drive and then I checked the brake fluid levels and obviously it is lower because of the leak but seems to not have gotten anymore lower so I believe that it stopped leaking but am I just supposed to go buy brake fluid and then refill it back up to max?

If you stopped the leak then fill it to max and bleed the brakes.
Do all four starting at passenger rear -> driver rear -> passenger front -> driver front.
If it is still leaking then tackle that first. Have extra brake fluid ready as you don't want it to run dry.

you are supposed to replace the copper washers on the banjo bolt(what holds the rubber line onto the caliper) everytime you remove it. hopefully it sealed up enough to not be an issue.
+1 for Blindguys advise, fill resevoir to max level, have one person pump the brake pedal 5 times(or until it gets hard) and have another person crack the bleeder on the caliper while the brake man is hold the pedal down. do this until there is no air coming out of that caliper. then repeat on the other 3 calipers and check how the pedal feels.

Buy the pneumatic brake fluid bleeder from Harbor Freight and do it yourself.

I just grab a mason jar and a rubber vacuum line. Fill the mason jar up about half way with brake fluid , crack open the bleeder and fit one end of the rubber line over the nip, then suspend the other end to the bottom of the mason jar. Fill the reservoir and pump the brake pedal. Keep an eye on the res, and fill as necessary. 1 person job. Air comes out but cant go back in.
