I changed water pump +belt tensioner +belt
NOISE is comeing from behind water pump, my guess?
any body got any iders .
if i take belt off, noise gos away
changed tensioner , belt , water pump ckecked all the pulleys
still makes noise in drive when you bring up rpms alittle maybe its timming chain any iders??????
That doesn't explain why it goes away when the belt isn't installed.
Also isn't that sensor electrical and not mechanical? It would just stop working, not make a ticking sound.
Missed the noise going away without belt so that does rule my suggestion out.
BUT the sensor itself is electric yes but there is a small shaft with a gear at the bottom that runs down from the sensor to the camshaft. The camshaft spins this smaller shaft that has a metal tab on it that spins passed the sensors magnetic pickup and tells the computer the position of the camshaft. The rubber seals in the small shaft known as the camshaft position sensor synchronizer shaft (that's a mouthful) are know to go bad, when that happens the synchro shaft is riding on metal and starts to squeak. I just replaced mine a few months ago. And a good one ain't cheap. I'm not sure that they can actually stop working apart from clogging with debris and shredding the actual electric sensor but dang the squeak is annoying.
The only thing that makes a clicking sound is the ac compressor. Does it make the noise if the ac is on off or both?
Or it could be the alt. arcing inside causing the noise. Do you see any blue sparks if you raise the idle from under the hood?
This is a good suggestion art. Ive asked about the ac compressor a couple times, did you ever watch it to see what happens?
But also a quick way to find any arcs from the alternator would be to wait till dark, start the car and raise the hood. Do whatever it takes to hear the clicking, and if you leave the engine bay in darkness the arc would be easy to see.
