Default Cut non-functional hood?

Hey guys, I own a 2003 v6. I have the stock heat extractor style hood. I was wondering if there was an easy way to cut out the small opening to make the heat extractor functional.

Obviously it can't be as easy as dremel it out and cut open the lining, right?
I have concerns regarding rusting.

The hood won't rust. It's a fiber composite hood. And yes it would be as simple as just dremelling out the recessed area of the honeycomb insert and remove/cut the under hood insulation.

Awesome, thanks for the reply.
Where is the info that states that the factory hood is a fiber composite?

Unless you've done a motor swap or are pushing huge numbers on your 3.8 there is no benefit to cutting your hood though. They aren't exactly cheap to replace.

No joke on not cheap. I'm looking for a 03-04 v6 hood right now.

I understand there's no benefit, but it just irks me that it's a non-functional hood.. lol

Thanks for the replies guys.

Look for 99-01 Cobra hoods as well. It's the exact same hood.

I know but as soon as you call it a cobra hood the price goes up. The "v6" hood is "cheaper". Lol
