Default Need insight on a 1996

I'm looking at picking up a '96 coupe and was curious as to some typical "maintenance" items I should be aware of, other than the head gasket issue and fix.

So far all I know is the car is a 5 speed with a brand new clutch installed, runs/drives good, doesn't leak fluids, and doesn't run hot(yet). I was told it needs a paint job but otherwise the body is in good shape.

Other than head gasket, nothing particularly different from the new edge, I'd check front steering linkage good, tie rods, struts, make sure that's all nice and tight. Apart from that if there are no leaks its just standard stuff, test drive, check ac, tell him you want it to be cold when you get there so you can cold start it. Typically when I come across someone who "warms it up for me" before I get there its because it has a cold start problem they don't want me to see.

Yeah Im familiar with the typical stuff to check for. With a $800 asking price Im not expecting much. Im just not real familiar with the single port specific stuff.

I have a complete supercoupe motor w/blower so the lack of power will be fixed.

That's a steal of a price too, I'm looking for one for my fiance right now, she's finally tired of her Camaro and coming around to the light side.

I just found a 1997 vert w/ auto for $895. I might go pick that one up instead. should be fun to just drop the top, put in drive, and putter around in.

Nevermind it was sold.

After owning two, I'd say stay away from a very, unless you really really really want one.

V6 was obdII all the way back to 94 I believe, the v8's have the port in 94-95 but didn't have it functional till 96 due to the 5.0 for the first two years.

Picked up the car for $560. Runs pretty decent with No CEL and runs cool. The interior is black and in really good shape with exception to drivers door. The thing needs paint bad but I'm just gonna rattle can for now. And the wheel are hideous and will be replaced ASAP
