GT exhaust is only 2.25", ok for a mild bolt on 94-98 single port car, but for a 99-04 split port you really want the 2.5"

Well, after MUCH consideration. And really after reality setting in lol. I think I'm going to leave the Y-pipe system the way it is, and just get the Flowmaster Force 2. I just can't justify the extra money for the rest of the exhaust system. Atleast not right now anyway. Especially when the money could easily go toward other stuff as well. Namely my trip to Cruisin Ocean City in May.

You'll probably get more out of the trip than an expensive exhaust.

Agreed, plus more money to spend on gas when I'm cruising up and down the town lol.

I do have another question though. While looking ( ok, drooling) over the exhaust systems at american muscle, I noticed something while ogling the MAC exhaust system. It requires the Pypes Exhaust hanger kit to mount to the car. Will the Flowmaster Force 2 require the same kit? I tried posting the question at AM, but got nothing but errors.

I can't answer it specifically, but in my own experience there really isn't a lot of difference between one pipe hanger and the others. There are only a couple of hard points under the car, the exhaust can only go a couple of different ways, and a hanger is a piece of metal with a rubber isolator on it.

My advice, then, would be that if you want to buy the exhaust, BUY it, then see what you need to mount that you don't already have. On my first car, I did thousands of miles with the exhaust held in place by a chunk of coat hanger wire.

Grab the exhaust hangers off a GT. you need the two under the rear bumper and the p/s hanger. The d/s is already installed on your car.

Well, I talked to a local mechanic that does custom exhaust. He quoted me about $325 for a custom made exhaust with 1 AP Exhaust XLerator VR Series muffler and custom bent piping that connects to my stock Y-Pipe. The muffler has one inlet, and 2 outlets for the tail pipes. I've been looking up some info on the XLerators and they sound pretty tempting. Heavy duty, with a nice throaty sound. The only comparable exhaust (cat back) is the MAC for $342 at American Muscle. My only caveat with the custom setup is that everything looks like its going to have to be welded together.

Dont do it. That "custom" setup still has the factory bottleneck at the y-pipe. You will gain nothing out of it except added weight of a second tailpipe.

If you are changing the exhaust, do a true duals setup only. Unless you are going turbo.
