Default A/C Dishcarge Line Hole & Replacement

So my discharge line has a hole, finally rubbed through by my K&N filter heat shield. I assume that with the hole, there is nothing to discharge/depressurize - just go in and replace the hose system? Now once replaced, can I recharge/re-pressurize with a typical recharging can of R--- ?

Thanks!

No you first must pull a vacuum with a vacuum pump. Then recharge the system with the proper amount of refrigerant listed on the tag under the hood.

I would strongly recomend that you have a professional shop that does recharges on a daily basis do the work, if you want to replace the hose its fine, but you will need to use a vaccuume pump to pull a vacuume and then recharge with correct amount of R134A as required.

If you have the tools to do it your self go right a head and have at it!

So sounds like I can go ahead and install the new hose, but I would need to take it in when that's done, as I don't have the tools to pull a vacuum before recharging?

if you have the tools, then yes you can do it all your self, if not install what you can (be careful that there is no pressure still left in the system) and install/repair what you can, then once you get to a part you can no longer do then take it to a shop and have them refil the entire system (they will most likely need to do the equivilant of a flush and fill where they remove all gasses and replace, as long as your compressor is not changed you shouldn't need to refill the pag oil, but again thats why im suggesting having a shop do the work
