Default 2 inch exhaust?

So I was replacing the flanges between the "y" pipe and muffler and had a huge WTF moment. I was sure everything should be 2.25, which it is, but the pipe between the y and muffler is only 2 inches. I hope I'm the only one because it seems very inefficient but looks OEM.

Well, it looks like I'm the only one with a 2 inch flow pipe. All well, looks like I have a good excuse for upgrading to a true dual exhaust.

I'm not sure what's under my '96. Haven't really looked. And I can't remember what came under my '00 as I put a GT exhaust on there shortly as I bought the thing.

I really don't remember what was on mine either, but a mid pipe and 2.5" catback is the way to go for a split port
