Rough idling 98 3.8
Alright so my lil pony is starting to get a little rusty. She's my high school sweet heart and I've been with here since '06.
I've been trying to trouble shoot why she's not idling but can't get a beatin what exactly it is and don't sant to just go on a parts replacement rampage and spend $1,000 to find the answer.
Anyways so about 2 years ago I noticed she started high revving during idle warm up, about 1,500 rpm then back to around 1k.
Well in the past year it's moved up to around 1,500 to 1,700 range for a min then it goes back to a 1k idle but every so often drops to 600 or 700 rpm idle.
Now it's getting a little worse when I turn left or right and sometimes come to a stop the idle like to dip around the 600 mark. Usually I tap the gas to feed her some juice and not stall.
At a drive through she dipped to around 400rpm and I blipped the throttle and she went all out of wack and died on me. Then again this weekend on a slow left turn she stalled out on me again. Only actually stalled on me twice now, mostly because I wanted to see when it dipped if it would save it self or actually die on me. But I don't want it to keep happening.
I know it's either fuel/air/fluids shifting or a sensor killing one of the 3 for problem or a combo killing the motor.
I'm thinking air filter probably needs replaced, oil is about due (but don't think that's related), injectors are probably a little old, and spark plugs.
I'm leaning towards fluids shifting starring the engine because it's not just idle, when I turn heavy left or right the idle dips hard and almost dies every time.
So with out sending me on buying out autozone and rebuilding the whole car to figure it's a 2 sensor or just air filter. Also I plan on sellin this thing soon as soon as I land a better job.
With all those symptoms what do you guys thinks the problem? Hopefully we can get my girl running normally again.

1.) Check all vacuum lines for rot, disconnect, leaks, etc.
2.) Unplug and clean the MAF and AIT sensors (follow general electronic cleaning practices)
3.) If those two check out, it could very likely be related to the idle air control sensor (attached to the IAC valve)
4.) Check the O2 sensors
5.) If all the above checks out, then you will have to start performing individual diagnostics on each and every sensor or wire that's connected to the air/fuel delivery system.
