RC I've got a 01 3.8 and i put a SR Performance CAI on it and a performance coil pack. Haven't tuned it yet and I still spin the tires at stop signs and lights. The intake cost me $80 and about an hour to install. The coil pack was $90 took like 10 minutes to install. Haven't got a tuner because of budget issues right now but I'm also not throwing any codes (yet knock on wood) also not getting full potential out of my CAI since i don't have a tuner.

Coil pack won't do jack unless your current coil pack is worn or bad, at that point you're not adding power but adding lost power. A CAI on it's own, with no tune, has proven to add little to no actual rear wheel horse power, on it's own, with 04 and earlier 3.8L Mustangs.

Sounds like your car just got the benefit of a tune up rather than that of a performance improving upgrade.
