If you're not in a hurry and want to save $20, just remove the PS pump completely. It's nice working with it out of the way.

We bought this car new, and the PS pump has never been worked on to our knowledge.

What I thought was a hex head bolt was the end of the PS shaft. I suppose the Hex head was made to install the hardened threaded insert. Got the pulley pulled, installed water pump, and am now buttoning up.

if there is a bolt in the pump shaft, then someone has screwed with it.
