Default 2000 V6, Changing water pump

I have a 2000 Mustang with a V6. It has had a small coolant leak for awhile and I think that it maybe around the water pump shaft. I will have to do a little disassembly this weekend to make sure.
I was looking at it and I see the power steering pump bracket is mounted to it. Can I move that out of the way enough without having to take the PS pulley off?
I also saw in a Haynes manual where it called for sealant on one of the screws. What do they mean by that? Some type of gasket sealant like permatex?

You will need to remove the power steering pulley its a $20 tool (or you can rent them for free) without removing the pulley you won't be changing the water pump
I used Permatex High Temperature Thread Sealant 5$ at any automotive store. But have used other high temperature silicone based sealants with no issues.
You will want to pick up some gasket remover as well... The old one is going to be baked on pretty good you will also want to replace the thermostat. Check your hoses as well for less then $20 each they are worth replacing.

The actual sealant Ford specifies is a gasket shellac, like Indian Head or similar. You would use the same stuff to stick the gasket to the pump. And yes, you have to pull the pulley, it is pressed on. As said above, check your hoses, and grab a Motorcraft thermostat and change that while you have it drained.

Not sure, but whatever comes in the puller kit will fit it. I do not recommend trying to pull it or press it with out the proper tool.

Thanks. I am going to rent the puller, but I thought that I had to remove the hex head bolt that goes through the pulley first.

There should be no bolt on there. It's a press fit.

It has a socket head that looks like a bolt, but I have not been able to get it to turn.

Someone has been into it before and left it in, hopefully it's not jammed from installing incorrectly.
