Default 2001 convertible problems

hey 2001 convertible i bought from a friend. top works but when i unlatch it i have to push it up a little bit so the motor pulls it down. and often i have to cycle the switch a lot to make the motor work. i have checked the fluid with the top up and bled the system..i dont know why it wont work. if i push it a bunch of times it will finally work. i hear it running but its loud and idk what to think. help please also i checked the emergency brake switch its working not corroded

It's not the most quite thing in the world. When it's not working can you hear it running? If not then the switch might be corroded internally or have had something spilt on it. I had to clean soda out of the switch on my gt when I bought it for it to work.

Before you tear it up let's get an answer to the question, when the top won't move does the pump make any noise?

Okay, could have something gummed up in the switch, you will need to pull the switch out of the console. First you can try getting some electrical contact cleaner and saturating the switch, if it's soda or something of that nature it will clean it out. If that doesn't work the switch clips together, carefully pull it apart and make note of how any internal metal pieces are situated, clean everything with sand paper and reassemble.

Or if you can hit some junkyards find another switch. They aren't that uncommon to see in yards and reasonably cheap
