Tomorrow I will be purchasing my first mustang a 2004 v6 manual, the first things I plan to do is replace the bumper with a cobra bumper and switch it to a dual exhaust. Is there anything else you would recommend be in the top of my list? Thanks in advance for all the. I am not super mechanically inclined. But I want to learn.

Welcome, I have a 2000 Mustang with a 3.8 a lot members here are doing a Windstar intake swap, headers, turbos, SC from a T Bird or a pro charger. it depends on how much you want to spend for HP, TQ. There is a lot you can do to wake up these little sixxers up. I found google search really helps researching this.

Welcome to the world of V6 Mustangs!

Add a rear sway bar if your Mustang does not already have one. 99-04 V6 Mustangs did not come with this bar from the factory and adding one will improve the cornering quite a bit. You can buy this new or get a used one from a 99-04 GT Mustang. Bolts right in, a used one is cheap and anyone can install this. Also make sure the rear sway bar is smaller in diameter than your front sway bar.

What's your future plans for your Mustang? Daily driver or weekend racecar?
Also, read the articles in the Tech: Installation and Information section. Lots of good information in those articles from members and real life owners of V6 Mustangs.

Welcome, to the forums!

It depends on what you want out of the car. When getting a bumper make sure you get an OEM replacement, stay away from all of those "carbon fiber" fiber glass, and various "thane" products. Most of them will have quality/fit issues, and will not come out right.

As far as dual exhaust, I'd just buy the mufflers you want and pay a shop to custom fab/weld them up by cutting out the y pipe and adding in the rest.

As far as performance goes, see the stickies up top. However, as I've said a million times before, you're fighting a major uphill battle money wise to get any real performance out of the car, so I'd personally leave it fairly close to stock.

Thanks, I'm not really looking for to make it an amazing performance car, but I do want it to look like a badass, and sound like one too. Which is why I'm focusing on more exterior mods then anything

A new set of wheels would go a long way as far as exterior upgrades. As for performance goes I would at least do a cold air intake and tune to wake her up some.

Is that the car in the pics? Depending on your age Id seriously replace that front lower fascia.
