Default Transmission Compatibility 4R70W

I have a 2000 mustang with a bad automatic transmission. Does anyone know what year transmissions will fit as a direct swap.

There is a 2002 for sale locally without a torque converter, so I would have to reuse mine. Tag info is PKE-BC2, 1R3P-7000-AA. Would this work?

Thanks

This is not an answer to your question, just an fyi. Be very careful when getting transmission work done. It is very expensive and there are bad actors out there. My son owned an older Camry with not a whole lot of miles. The automatic trans failed. He went to a nationally known shop to have it repaired. They replaced it. Within the first month, it completely failed 500 miles from home during a trip home at Xmas. He was stranded . Although he was able to get the transmission replaced under warranty, they refused to pickup any of his expenses. The replaced transmission failed in just over a year.

To answer your question, yes an 02 trans is the same as an 00. Both are 4r70w.

So I did pick up the 2002 transmission. As far as I can tell comparing the transmission that I took out with this replacement the only difference seems to be one of the harness connections on the transmission. I didn't take the time to try and identify what it is but it's a two wire connection maybe a speedometer or some kind of sensor.
2002 transmission also came with the wire harness and there was an additional white connector that I Dont have on my vehicle.
I am going to pop out the sensor that is different and use the sensor from my bad transmission so it connects to the harness also from my vehicle. Hopefully should work the same and I should know in a few days

Got a chance to test drive the car last night and all seems well. The different connector was the speedometer sender. I put the one from the 2000 transmission into the 2002. The sensor from the 2000 had two orings. I couldn't find a good fit for replacing them. I installed and it wasn't as tight a seal as I would have liked, but so far no obvious leaks.

Car drove and shifted well and speedometer looks correct.
