Molding Removal

Not really a fun process but not super difficult. You have to remove the rear seats so you can pull back the interior side panels (the big pieces with speaker covers). They should only be attached with some clips and trim push pins. Next pull off the thick weatherstripping that sits at the bottom of the rear windows, exposing 2 screws on each side that hold on that metal u trim piece. Make absolutely sure you use a magnetic screwdriver or are very careful because it is near impossible to retrieve the screws if you drop them. After that, open the trunk and remove the screws holding the piece onto the back. Note the bar comes apart into 3 pieces

That's what I was afraid of. I played with it a little this weekend, and was able to feel a small split in the top (abt a 1/4") that I could touch with the top half up.
I was able to get a patch on it and tested it for leaks. So far it worked well.
Not being lazy, I'll do anything not to have to take off that molding.... LOL
