Default Center Console Swap

I have a 2000 with the dark charcoal interior. The cup holders in the center console are almost unusable because the shifter hits whatever is in the front one when I shift to 2nd or 4th. Is it worth swapping the redesigned center console with the cup holders moved further back from say a 2003 or 2004 model or does the shifter still get in the way?

You can use a 01-04 console actually. I know the rear cup holder is a lot more functional and I believe the front one is too. However I think drink cups will still get in the way of you shifting, but the shifter wont hit them in the front.

Thanks! I've seen some decent ones at junkyards for 20 bucks so I may spring on that. Did the interior color change in 01-04?

I dont think so. The only problem you may run into is the wire length for your top switch reaching the new location.

Sweet. I'm not too worried about wiring, I'll figure something out. Appreciate the advice

You may need the radio surround to for traction control/rear defrost as they are different but I agree the cup holders in my 99 GT sucked *****

That shouldn't be an issue because I don't have traction control and my defrost is by the headlight ****
