Default 3.8 exhaust question

I have a 94, 3.8 that I just did a full tune up on. Added platinum plugs, motor craft wires, fuek filter, CAI, throttle body spacer (yes I know everyone says waste but a buddy gave it to me) new harmonic balancer, belt, flushed radiator, and tranny filter and full synthetic fluids, Well you get the idea.

So even after all that my throttle is VERY sluggish, to the point im afraid to pull out into traffic. So question is can the cats on a 94 be removed so I can build a free flow exhaust without throwing an o2 sensor code? What muffler would give this car a deep (deep for a 3.8) rich sound? I was thinking flowmaster 40 series. Also would this car benifit immensely to a true dual exhaust with cross overs?

More or less looking for best exhaust for the 3.8 for sound qnd performance.

Most likely. Mine has no cats but will need a tune and such to turn off that stuff.

These are not real fast cars, but it sounds like it has a problem that taking out the cats will not solve.
I'd spend time looking for the problem before guessing about what might make it faster.
Does it throw any codes? Have you checked the compression and vacuum? Are the brakes releasing properly? Is the transmission OK? Good spark to all of the plugs? Have you pulled the plugs to see what they look like?

Clogged cats will cause that exact problem.

Clogged cats are easy to find with a $15 vacuum gauge

So plugs are new, old ones looked great too. No codes at all, could be a trans issue may be. Not looking for a 10 second car but this will be for my son so i do need solid and safe

Bit of an update. Harmonic balancer was bad, very bad, broke in two pieces bad. Replaced that today and its night and day car will do a burn out now. Boohoo. Still replacing exhaust with a true dual and H cross over but power issues are pretty much solved

Wow broken in two huh? Geez. Glad you got that straightened out. YouTube is great for exhaust videos.
