Default Cold Air Intake and Throttle Body question

Ok, I just bought an SR Performance cold air intake and a BBK 65mm throttle body from American Muscle. I got my parts yesterday (only a day after ordering them, which was awesome), but a friend of mine mentioned something I hadn't considered. I have an 04 Mustang with the 3.9 in it. Will my car require a tune with both the TB and CAI installed? I've just been doing some basic bolt ons to the car at the moment, and have yet to buy a tuner.

no tune required, the cold air doesnt change MAF orientation, and the TB doesnt requre a tune either

It's not necessary, but I think you will get better gains from them with a tune...or am I wrong in that thinking?

the gains from the tune have nothing to do with the air inlet or TB, they result in the changes made in timing. so yes more gain with a tuner (5-10hp) at most. just about all that bolt on stuff makes very little if any gains at all. on an na 2V car the most can be gained from a manifold back exhaust (20hp or so) and remember the most common mistake people make, all these numbers for each bolt on DO NOT STACK.

I'll probably spend the money on a nice catback exhaust which will provide more hp gain compared to intake mods.

the stock air intake is good enough.

I really don't think you're gonna gain that much rwhp with an exhaust upgrade. What part of MO are you from?

you will but only at the top end of the power bad on a dyno, barely noticeable in driving feel
