CRAZY Ignition problem
Alright, this stang is giving me FITS.
This is my daughter's car, and we are trying to get it back to road worthy status so she can drive it. It sat for about a month because we had other issues to deal with. I went out there to move it in the driveway, and it would turn over, but not crank. I depressed the valve on the fuel rail to make sure it had good fuel pressure (it did), Immediately went to check for spark. I pulled the #1 Spark Plug wire off of the plug and stuck a screwdriver in it and held it near something metal to see if it arc'd (yeah, I know, that's genius... but wait it gets funny...). I had my son try to turn it over while I checked to see if spark was being generated. Well, it was, and it shocked the hell out of me. The problem is the CAR STARTED RIGHT UP.... Running on 5 Cylinders, no hesitation, just cranked instantly. I replaced the plug wire and restarted the car, and it cranks up just fine now.
My question is, what the Heck happened? How did pulling the #1 Wire off allow it to start? Why does it run fine now, when it wouldn't start at all before?
I'm replacing the IAC Valve, and Coil Pack today as well as starting work on the A/C system. After working on cars for most of my life, I've never seen a car just start working after that.

After it sits for a while, the fuel pressure slowly bleeds off back into the tank. This allows air into the lines, it takes some cranking before the air can be fully purged out of the fuel lines. You probly did more for it when you unwittingly depressed the fuel valve open and let the remainging air out.
