Default New voltage regulator not regulating

Out of the blue when I got on it and at about 3500 rpm click, gauges go full tilt and my low beams blow. Sure enough, pegging the volt meter at 20 volts at about 3500 rpm. Order up new external regulator, swap, oh crap, same.

I checked the main fuse box where there is a 20 amp "generator" (per the owners manual). Thats good. And darn, both 20 amp low beam fuses are good. But I will worry about that after I can make it not go 20+ volts.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Im baffeled. Its a 2000 3.8.

Welcome to the forum.

I'd guess your brand new regulator was bad from the start. New doesn't always mean good......

Good luck
