V6 Mustang Not Reducing Gears Prior To Accelerating
Hello Everyone,
This is my first post on the forum.
I drive a 3.8l V6 Mustang Convertible from 2001. Just a few days ago I changed the throttle position sensor because the one that I had was getting bad (I would start up the car and the RPM would instantaneously go to 2000 with the throttle on idle position) - so I got one off eBay (cost me like 12$ or so) and got it installed. I notice that now, when I floor it (full throttle) the car does no effort to build up RPM switch to a lower gear and just "explode" off as it used to! It just simply accelerates using the gear that its currently on and builds up to almost the redline prior to switching to the next gear.
Is it be because the throttle position sensor, even though it fits this car make and model, is a generic one instead of an official Ford part?
Might there be any other reason?
Thank you guys for the help! Cheers!
