Default want a track car... my options???

ok so here we go. i love my mustang and i love racing and what not but i need to get off the street rly bad cuz my last race i almost ate the front end of a chevy pickup. it was like maby my 4th street race and iv decided im done. i want to go to the track but if i go with my car ppl will laugh and stare at this lil v6 with bolt ons. i have a great track near my house called 75/80 dragway that just reopened.

the way i see it.

1. build up my v6 a little at a time and use my motorcycle as my daily driver

2. buy and tear down then build a foxbody 5.0 . use my v6 as my daily driver.

3. buy some type of chevy and build it. i have herd chevy's are extremley cheap to build and that a 2,000 dollar chevy build will preform the same as a 5,000 dollar ford build.

BUDGET.

i currently have about 1500 saved up from my job. ill be quiting soon because i have a summer gig that should reel in about 1500. so by the end of summer lets say i have about 2500.

ill be going into the United States Coast Guard in about a year as a Machinery Technician (MK) and hope to gain some more knowledge about engines and persue a career in performance automotives once i retire

OPINIONS PLEASE

because people sell them for cheap. take out the 2.3 and drop in a bigger engine of your choice.

where is a good place to start looking. so far iv found

a 1990 for 1900$ http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/1201971301.html
a 1988 for 1500$ http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/1200497173.html
and one for 1200 obo http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/1195201432.html

all of them are decent

i plan to gut the whole car if i get a foxbody. all the raido, ac, interior, spare tire. put in a roll cage and then go straigt to the engine. work on the 5.0 block or get a diff. one if money permits

Don't worry about what other people think. There will ALWAYS be someone faster, so it doesn't matter if you are fast or slow. Racing is about having fun.
