Default New Paint Job

What is a rough estimate to have a 2000 convertible repainted? Same color (white) but maybe add a blue racing stripe down the front of the hood?

True that. I was quoted $4,000 to have my entire car redone.

A quality paint job will run aroun $4000. If you pay $1500, then don;t expect to not see runs, tape lines, and overspray.

Do you really need a full paint job or do you just need it wet sanded and new clear added?

There is a big diff between a full paint job and revitalizing the paint with new clear.

As for Maaco, they do good work IF you pay a premium so in turn they become like every other paint shop.

Maaco gets an unfair bad rap because they offer ultra cheap paint jobs that have the only job of making the car 1 color. Thats it.

They can do wonderful quality work for the right price but you have to be sure to let them know that you dont want the economy work.

I have been quoted anywhere from $3000 - $6000 for full paint and prep and wet sanding. Some places told me that their paint jobs start at $10k and go up and that they would not give a price till the work was done.

Just call around and do your homework and figure if you want full new paint or just reclearing.

Also another thing you may have to worry about with reclearing is the quality and compatibility of the new clear to adhere to your factory color.

If you do paint it, add the stripes with vinyl. Easier to do, cheaper to do and you can remove them later if you'd like.
