Question Planning to purchase a 2002 Mustang for the first time!

First of all I'm new to this forum and would like to say hello!

I'm a complete Mustang newbie I've always looked at mustangs and wanted one and finally at the age that I am at I can afford one..ish.

I've had a friend test drive a mustang for me that is manual since I need to learn how to drive stick..it has 160 000 km on it and he reported that the first and 2nd gears when shifting were making the car bounce or studder and were quite difficult to shift into..I don't quite know how to describe it but my friend described it as if the clutch is not properly catching on or has "teeth" coarseness to it and catching really hard.

Could this be a clutch problem ? How much would a clutch cost to replace on a 2002 model? I also have to buy winter tires since I plan on driving it in the winter back and forth from my college and I have a tight budget.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!
